It’s a fact they were designed and trained to respond to prompts, it isn’t a philosophical mystery, it’s their entire reason for existence. For humans, it is less obvious, which is why some of us tend to favor the artificial certainty of religious mythology.

And yes, I’m concerned in general about AI systems, just not about them running amok for no reason. There’s always a human reason and a human delusion about what these systems would or wouldn’t do in the pursuit of the human prompt.
