Anyway, I mention all this because Homicide was the first show to even slightly suggest that All Cops Are Bastards. Refreshingly, most of the characters have significant ethical failings, constantly violate their suspects’ civil rights, and conspire to cover up their bad behavior. The acting is beyond melodramatic — especially the late, great Andre Braugher, who is so over-the-top he’s practically levitating. I can’t stop watching these train-wreck people, it’s hilarious.
