Sorry to hear that your flavour of Linux has been nasty to you.
And yes, you are correct, the selection of guitar-centric plugins is poor, and so is the selection of virtual instruments.
I mostly work on multi-track recordings, most of them originate from hardware recorders even. Mixbus Pro on Ubuntu Studio does it for me.
But then again, I never did any recording/mixdown not on Linux in the last 20 years, except for one project I did on the macBook of a client in Logic. So I had to switch from Mixbus to Logic on the fly… I was missing things I had been used to.
