A school district in southeastern Pennsylvania opted to remove a policy to help students keep so-called gender transitions secret from parents, according to a Monday statement from the legal nonprofit Alliance Defending Freedom, or ADF. The policy change came months after the advocacy group sent the district a letter alleging that the policy violated the Constitution. Chester County Intermediate Unit 24 school district policy required teachers to not only affirm students’ chosen gender identity at school, but to hide the so-called transition from parents, the ADF reported. The district also maintained a database to keep track of how much parents knew of a child’s transition and what information teachers should refrain from sharing, the group added.
