Here are the latest unsourced rumors, and I'm afraid I have no way to verify any of this:

"There's some indication that internal pushback may have yielded a reprieve until July 31st."

Also this:

"Just got off the phone with a contact at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society. The GOOD news for today’s urgent task (NOAA):

IRI has most of the data archived in their Data Library here: https://iridl.ldeo.columbia.edu/

Their biggest concern is around the future acquisition and publishing of climate data from NOAA satellite networks.

The BAD news:
The funding cuts targeting Columbia University means that the hosting, management and maintenance for this Data Library are uncertain. To date, lay-offs have left this group untouched, but that is not expected to continue for much longer. More should be known this weekend. Further, the funding to keep the group who manage the data library going beyond June 1st was not explicitly renewed, nor was it explicitly cut. There is a huge cloud of uncertainty going forward."
