Open source is free to run and expensive to own. The invoice moved from the license to attention: a CVE in a dependency is now your incident, an abandoned repo is now your roadmap. Before adopting any OSS, answer two questions: who is on-call for this when it breaks at 3am, and what's the exit if upstream dies? If the answer to either is 'we'll figure it out', it's a liability, not a tool.
