This is Suzie. She is chonky. Last week she started holding up her back leg, her foot dangling limp.
We take Suzie to the big vet with several locations. The vet tech wants to see her walk. We lead her a few hops.
"Yes,yes, she has a torn ccl or acl. We do a lot of these."
She comes over and reaches awkwardly for Suzie who snaps at her. Clearly afraid, she goes on telling us that THIS location doesn't do the surgery, but it's $3500 and the "gold standard" for dogs. They sedate the dog, then do x rays and feel around, then go straight into surgery.
The vet comes in, the tech leaves, and we repeat almost the exact same routine. The vet holds her hand toward us the whole time she talks. Very rude. We leave with some meds. The other location will call us.

Next day go to different vet. Tech and vet come in together, tech says, "she seems nervous, I'm just gonna put this muzzle on her before we get started." They both get down on the floor, get Suzie lying down calling her sweetie and saying it's ok we're gonna make it better etc. The vet manipulates her leg every which way, with precision, her eyes closed, feeling deeply with her thumbs in the muscle. Something made a pop as the tech petted her and said who's so brave. They did the xray and said nothing is broken, let her rest for 2 weeks and it might heal. We said thanks, and Suzie walked out of there like nothing was even wrong. She was careful on that leg a few more days and now she seems fine.
