#Today’s crowning achievement:
Some time ago I received a “dead” plant, a caetê-redondo / calathea orbifolia, with a single half-browned leaf and a clutch of black twigs where once had been other leaves. With little expectation, I consigned him to the shelf of other plants in various stages of rehabilitation.
For months, he languished there, no longer decaying, but not really recovering. Resting, I thought, perhaps in this final stage of hospice: the last calm before slipping away.
