and it's NOT about easy life. I heard that statement from a very 'hardy' woman who lived there for many yrs, and who is originally from Mexico. But they ARE coping and cooperating with their surrounding society. And it definitely not a hostile relationship. I think the other locals admire their guts and perseverance. They wish they could do the same, because they see the strength of that little community, the comeradeship and efficiency. Maybe also they envy them.
