Yes, this meme shows it on an individual level, but I also mean it on a group level. Notice that discernment (or what I also say is a step to judgment) sits right below the named roles. It is the qualifier, but it can also act as the gatekeeper of power in a negative way if denied. "I have an issue with my guru. I raise it. I am told I'm not evolved enough and need to do more inner work."

If criticism can never land, then that is how abuses of power are allowed to fester. When discernment is denied, it just centralizes power at the top. The guru judges who is evolved enough. Silence reads as progress. Those with intact discernment get pushed out or leave on their own. The titles become self certified with the people below not able to challenge anything because it is cast as proof that they are not worthy.

If judging is always deemed unspiritual, then the individuals essentially silence themselves. Being comfortable with discernment is the key to counter the possibility of abuse. If someone always thinks "maybe I am projecting" then the external hierarchy has in essence become the internal one. You become a sheep, in the harshest of terms, or don't trust your own eyes, in the softest. "What is bringing this up in me" is a fair question and the answer can be that the judgment is valid. Being comfortable with judgment isn't a spiritual failing, it's what keeps power accountable. It's why I break it down into discernment is seeing clearly, judgment is concluding, and condemnation is the part I skip. I can also accept that what I see in another is in me or a possibility in me. It's not an egoic judgment, or better than, it's a "I don't want this behavior in my life" judgment. And then I can act upon it.

From my understanding you see judgment as a harsh cutting off of essentially a piece of yourself which is reflected in the outside world. You lean toward preference which means an alignment of energies where you tend toward. I think preference keeps you safe, but judgment in the way I use it would keep others safe too.
