You and I are not laypeople, of course we read it differently than a gardener, physician, kindergarten teacher, or lawyer.
We both know that there's a difference between "AI" in a computer game or a simple chess computer, "AI" as in classical ML or expert systems and "AI" as in LLMs and generative AI.
But to someone who's not that versed in computer science all the same words, phrases and promises are used in media targeted at them as in years prior when Deep Blue, autonomous vehicles or ELIZA was the hot topic.
