the one computing amenity I've lost and never recovered as part of my very long journey away from proprietary software, is perfect integration of my music library between desktop and phone.

I had a working solution with iTunes + iSyncr + iSyncr's ability to bridge play counts from Android back to iTunes by acting as an audio scrobbling endpoint or something to that effect.

after ditching OS X and iTunes I've never had this degree of integration again. my smart playlists (first in iTunes, now in Quod Libet) depend on last-played / last-started / last-skipped dates, so simply syncing the current snapshot of files in the list to my phone doesn't cover my use case.
