The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGC-N) has claimed responsibility for attacks on seven vessels over the past 24 hours, alleging they violated Iran’s regulations for transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

In a notable shift, the IRGC-N says it struck four vessels simultaneously while they were conducting ship-to-ship transfers in the Persian Gulf. Iran has recently attributed numerous maritime incidents to sea mines, a claim disputed by the U.S., which says missiles and drones are responsible.

According to the IRGC-N, the other three vessels struck mines west of the Strait of Hormuz overnight. The statement claims all seven vessels are on fire.

The IRGC-N also warned that continued efforts to route vessels through waterways Tehran considers prohibited could provoke attacks on U.S. bases across the region.

Early reports indicate that several Iranian sites near the Strait of Hormuz, including locations in Sirik, Iran, have been struck preemptively as missile crews were reportedly preparing to launch attacks against commercial vessels transiting the strait.

These reports remain preliminary.

More to come.
