I took this photo today.
Our first yellow daffodil for 2025.
It remided me of my youngest sister. These were her favorite flowers. She said they reminded her of sunshine.
Six years my junior, my sister was born with Down syndrome.
We spent a lot of time together as I was the closest to her in age and the only sibling still at home.
She always broke into song in response to seeing daffodils. You are my Sunshine was always the song. It has been a long time now, but I found myself humming away as soon as I saw this first blossom.
She was always happy. No matter what.
