Spent all morning preparing for my small claims court hearing against Meta, only to find out I'd been assigned a different judge after three prior hearings with the same one, who supposedly scheduled this continuance specifically so he could preside again. Darn it, Commissioner Allen, I was really counting on you, man 😢
Well, turns out this chicka was a BOSS at least. 💪
She basically put us on standby and had Meta's representative work with their access team to restore my access to my accounts. (More specifically my profile which I lost access to 4.5 months ago when they began their authentication process asking for my ID and a new email, so I can rightly be returned access as admin to my hacked business page of now 17 years). I am baffled by what incompetent processes and people work at that corp. This has been so fucking frustrating. Finally though wow they actually sent a working password reset link. MORONS! But I got my accounts back.
Sounds great, right? Except I spent over THREE HOURS in the courtroom. My hearing started at 1:30 PM, and I wasn't done until 4:45.
By the time we finally got to the actual matter of my claim, which is the harm caused by 29 MONTHS of unauthorized sexually explicit content sitting on a business page I'd spent 15 years building, under MY NAME, misrepresenting me, my brain was completely FRIED.
And I'm not even sure I managed to properly articulate the full extent of my arguments.
I'd already presented them to the previous judge multiple times, particularly when Meta kept bringing up contractual defenses. He'd actually honed in on the reputational harm caused by Facebook's failure to act for such an outrageous length of time.
Well, got a different judge today, and all that built up rapport, gone! Three hours in, I was running on fumes.
Then their litigation person was a whole other representative than before too, making up a bunch of made up shit that had never come up, just pretty much inventing stuff, that I didn't even have a chance to question.
So, I am really not sure I am happy with how that concluded.
But it's out of my fucking hands now.
The judge has up to 90 days to issue a decision. I am gonna pray she does what's actually just in this situation.
I'm sooooo POOPED rn. And somehow I still had an entire business ethics assignment to tackle afterward. 😵💫🥴
I need a REALLY good show to completely zone out with now!!!
