Thursday morning #headlines recap

US and Israel are coordinating a week of "massive strikes" on leadership, energy, nuclear and infrastructure targets if there is no last-minute deal. Strike is scheduled to occur after midterms. Trump: "We need to finish the job". Axios is the source, so it could just be more market manipulation.

Overnight, Hegseth fired the Pentagon's chief planner, Army Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia. lol he’s a high-yaller, so good riddance.

Hormuz: US is warning ships away from a strait it says it controls, while also claiming crude is leaving Hormuz above pre-war volumes. UKMTO reports a vessel on fire 9NM north of Khasab. Once again Trump administration proclamations about the openness of the strait do not match reality.

WSJ: Vance sent a letter to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and the IRGC's longest-serving commander, to revive talks. Trump initially denied it, then said it was about medical supplies, then said Vance went behind his back. No reports on whether or not it was a strongly worded letter.

Headline: The Gulf Holds a Security Meeting and Washington Wasn’t Invited. This is an absolute win for all sides.

Saudi-Houthi war: Aden airport runway hit; Eastern Province alerts; Bahrain, Kuwait and Pakistan quietly involved.

Simplicius gives an update on Russian attacks on Kiev bridges:

Russia may not want to launch one single large-scale barrage with many munitions against a bridge because that would incur mass civilian casualties, given all the cars traversing the bridges at any given time. In conjunction with this, Russia could be attempting a deliberate “slow degradation” campaign in order to drain as much of Ukraine’s resources as possible; i.e. instead of mass-bombing the bridge to disable it all at once, you “peck away” at it piece by piece while allowing time in between for shut-downs, chaos, Ukrainian repair efforts, etc., which slowly drains the state. A chronically damaged bridge in a constant state of disrepair is in some ways worse than a totally disabled bridge; it’s why in past wars opposing troops were often purposely wounded with shrapnel rather than killed outright, in order to burden the enemy’s logistics with having to transport and deal with the injured.

The Kremlin says Europeans won't be invited to peace talks. Ushakov: "They can go there if they buy tickets”. Per Euronews, the EU is sending a delegation anyway. It’s like they strategize on how to make themselves look as weak and irrelevant as possible.

Putin calls Musk a "genius" and says Moscow is coordinating with him so Rassvet and Starlink don't get in each other's way. Russia is targeting ~300 Rassvet satellites by 2028, pitching state traffic filtering as a selling point. So once again we see Russia showing that national self-sufficiency is the way to go. And if by “state traffic filtering” he means “keeping the pajeets off our damn internet” then that’s an ever bigger win.

Rates: Fed holds 10-2 with Cook and Hammack voting to hike. They can’t afford to hike, and they can’t afford not to hike.

Big Tech: Alphabet's second straight negative-cash flow quarter (-$9.1bn) sends GOOGL down 7%; Samsung misses in part due to SK Hynix’s proclamation of being “sold out through 2029”; Anthropic's S-1 draws fire in part for key numbers being blanked out. I guess Anthropic learned a thing or two about redaction from the Epstein releases…

Savannah River Site radiological event (South Carolina). A lab fire caused an "unfiltered ground-level radiological release" and a shelter-in-place order. The fire was contained to one room, nothing has been detected beyond the fence, and no cause has been given. The FAA closed the airspace under a "US Government Nuclear Incident" notice. This is the site that handles tritium for warheads, so "one room" carries more weight than usual. Going forward all such incidents will be blamed on DEI until proven otherwise. Spain: deadliest rail crash in more than a decade. Adif's Atocha control center cleared a Renfe AVE past a red signal. The train ran 25km at up to ~200km/h and hit a stopped Iryo train near Urda, Toledo. At least 64 dead, Spain's second major crash this year. Ironically the union is striking over safety issues.

After landing in Miami, Flavio Bolsonaro declares himself Brazil's rightful leader. Nothing says “I’m in charge” like fleeing the country. OTOH if Bibi and Zelenskyyyy ever wind up there he’ll have some fellow deposed leaders to commiserate with…

The Justice Department criminally charged James Comey over a decade-old allegation that he ordered his staff to leak classified information to a reporter. I’d like to call this good news, but my guess is that someone in the machine is just shaking him down for money.

The FBI served a search warrant at a mansion in Beverly Hills Tuesday morning, and Eyewitness News has learned it is in connection to an investigation into former Rep. Eric Swalwell. * Farding and shidding intensifies *

Whistleblower alleges Microsoft allowed an Indian engineer (lol) to access classified US documents in Microsoft’s US Government cloud. Further allegations from a different source indicate that Microsoft regularly divulges US classified information to foreign workers. A company run by a streetshitter will always give preferred access to other streetshitters.

Indian-born Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi introduces a bipartisan resolution to designate July as “Indian American Heritage Month,” backed by nearly 60% of the House. Feeling pretty fedpoasty about this shit…

Indians take out loans from Chinese phone-based apps, then delete the app and discard the phone. Chinese platforms making such loans lost 7 billion RMB over the last 6 years, with default rates approaching 80%. Wherein we begin to wonder if pajeets have some jewish ancestry.

A Chinese startup has unveiled a 13-foot robot that it claims can carry 500-kilogram loads. Strap a dildo on it and wahmens will finally have that tall man they’re longing for.

53,000 Israelis dual-citizens living around the world flew to Israel to vote in the elections. Israel does not allow its citizens living abroad to vote by mail, so the 53,000 spent on average $2,900 per person to fly to Israel. The Telegram reports their primary motivation is to vote out Netanyahu so Israel’s reputation can be “restored”. lol, restored to what exactly? A haven for worldwide organized crime, sexual deviancy, and terrorism?

The number of Texans receiving food stamps has hit a 17-year low as the federal government tightens eligibility and the state struggles to process applications in a timely manner. Nationally, SNAP enrollment is also at a 17-year low. OH SNAP, finally a tiny bit of good news.

98% of the refugees admitted to the U.S. under Trump have been white South Africans. RAMZPAUL had the best reply to the post: “That is a good thing. White South Africans don't stab us in the neck as we ride a bus.” Extremely good news if true.
