confession: when I played Ultima V, I didn't know that you could leave party members at an inn, so when I was at full party and wanted to add someone new, I would rearrange the party, sneak into Blackthorne's castle, get caught, and then watch Blackthorne strap the unwanted adventurer to a torture table to get cut in half.
Then I'd escape and go recruit the new character.
