Buuut my 1 meter pi camera cable works like a charm and allows me to place it properly on my rig -- or it will on Saturday when my mounting clips arrive. The camera needs heatsinks too actually, IR lights get hot.
But all the functionality is there.

My raspberry pi is now nicely smug in its home. Until my heatsinks arrive in Saturday anyway -- probably? I might need a different case. No biggie if I need to print a new one to fit the sinks, I think they'll fit inside just fine. It doesn't really need the sinks, but I did notice the temp pin at 60c and presumably its throttling a bit (as designed). Still, I'd like to get a little more room there.
