I recall that in 1988 for the bicentennial celebrations, a wee park on the side of Parramatta Road got a related sculpture and some new trees.
Sadly, whilst the trees were indeed planted with the green bits up, they neglected to remove the plastic bags from around the root balls. That went as well as you'd expect.
