Angola has declared its highest mountain, Mount Moco, part of a new conservation area to protect its threatened Afromontane forests. The announcement builds on years of work by local villagers, who have planted more than 8,000 trees and helped protect surviving forest from fire. The new Serra do Moco Conservation Area covers around 220 km².
