The kick in the gut is definitely something that is happening. My oldest plays French horn in several high school bands, including the marching band. My FIL was a French horn player and drum major for his HS marching band. FIL came to almost every event last year, and my oldest actually played a solo at one of the funerals. Getting ready for this school year has been really hard. My oldest broke down at a rehersal recently.
