Surely this is the sanction response that doesn't cause us harm: if we ever were to receive any #AUKUS subs, they would have been late and over budget, but the likely outcome is that they never would have been received.

We still have the option - should we want nuclear subs, to buy the French subs that were a nuclear design originally, but retro-fitted with diesel electric for us, or buy any other diesel electric sub from anyone else, and get them sooner so they can be deployed and cheaper.
