I really need to read newspapers from 1900-1914 as I'm quite sure it was the dry run beta test with the side benefit of massacring a bunch of white christian males at the hands of industrial revolution of military machinery.
There must be a lot of stuff in those newspapers, selling the 19th century self-sufficient populaces that they needed this militarized state in the lead up to WW1, something convincing, something to get them to send their sons across oceans.
