#WritersCoffeeClub Oct. 7: Does your editing process tend towards addition or reduction?

Given I do it as I go, ultimately, addition. That said, if something simply isn't working, I kind of know it right away and don't move on until something flows out. Really, any advice I've taken to cut something has always turned out terribly, because I write to momentum, not pacing.

Doing the editing phase on a finished first draft is a lot about clarification more than anything else. If I stumble over something, I refactor. If something isn't working by that point, it's in the last few chapters, probably. That said, sometimes something really does need to be said or established, so I'll maybe add as much as a page if I need to, with purpose.
