The Articles of Confederation were not a failure because it didn’t give the central government enough power (what is taught in grade schools). But rather, because it failed to *prevent* greater centralization of power in the central government, culminating in the counterrevolutionary defeat of the Revolution and the beginning of the end of the Republic: the ratification of the Constitution.
