I dislike the Chinese social credit system not because it's not entirely about one's financial status, but because it can (and probably is, if I were to guess) be used as a tool of social control, suppressing dissent directed at the government beyond legitimate law enforcement needs, negatively impacting, or straight out removing, peoples privacy, freedom of movement, and freedom of expression.
