Also at Japanese public baths (sentō), the woman collecting payments can see into both the men's and women's change rooms. She seems bored. In the men's bath area, you can hear the women chatting and laughing, although it's difficult to make out the words.
Most modern homes and apartments have their own baths and sentō are sadly disappearing.

Also, in Japan, I've been using the urinal when a cleaning lady came in and started mopping. No big deal.
