It's a small glimmer of hope in the darkness that the authoritarian crackdown & the impassioned defense of the white supremacist kyriarchy are happening now because those who wish to retain their power are feel *threatened* by the progress we have made.
It feels like we are "going backwards," but that's the whiplash as they slam on the brakes to try to halt our forward movement. They aren't "getting worse". They've always been monsters. They are getting more desperate because they are scared.
What we call the "rise of fascism in the US" is actually the backlash & retaliation of an existing fascistic culture to the challenges people have been *successfully* making to its institutional & cultural power.
The things that they call "woke" are in fact challenges they think they can only survive by doubling down on the authoritarian violence & control. Things are getting so heated because they are terrified that they may be losing control.
