What we call the "rise of fascism in the US" is actually the backlash & retaliation of an existing fascistic culture to the challenges people have been *successfully* making to its institutional & cultural power.

The things that they call "woke" are in fact challenges they think they can only survive by doubling down on the authoritarian violence & control. Things are getting so heated because they are terrified that they may be losing control.
