This was one lf the wonderful things about growing up in the Albuquerque metropolitan area, and I have happy memories of being taken to the mass ascension as a child - I got the french toast sticks from Burger King and would eat them in our family's red station wagon while we parked and watched the balloons go up. I remember New Mexico as a place of rich sensory experiences.
