Why do USA citizens call themselves 'Americans'? Even Canadians, Brazilians, Mexicans, Equadorians, Argentinians, Venezuelans, Panamanians are Americans as they inhabit the American continent, but I never hear them saying they are 'Americans'. Is 'American' a reserved word for 'USA citizen'?
If someone asks me next time where I am from, I will reply 'I am an Eartling'.
