Just yesterday... AGAIN...
had an argument with my wife, that SHE brought up, about trans people. She stated with utmost confidence if trans people hadn't "pushed so hard to be allowed into women's sports and locker rooms... oh and the drag queens! Drag queens really got so many people angry and pushing back. What do you think?"
And by now I know full well this will lead to an argument. But I say that I don't know what caused such a backlash and if it can be pinpointed to any one thing.
I continue by saying, "if I had to pin it on one thing though, I'd say that it's the fact that women are held to an impossible standard that requires they sit neatly into a box that is labeled "This is womanhood" and if you don't conform to all the requirements that SOCIETY, and by that I mean, the patriarchy, says is what a woman is then you are ridiculed, gawked at, shunned, demonized. I think that's why so many who have bought into Eurocentric beauty standards of which people in our society base womanhood demononize trans women because we can't possibly fit into that already impossible set of standards.
But we try and everyone hates us for all of that... for even trying to push back on the patriarchy.
