I think the biggest change in outlook for me over the past few years is mostly that immediacy is not the point, the dogged pursuit over time is the point, the vigilance is the point, and it's not some failing of thought or spirit that even if all goes well, we don't see the fruit until 10 years later or so.

And that's not fine, but it is how it is. We need to eat now, but the fruit isn't there yet.
