Had a realization about how far AI is from actual reasoning. I told it a war joke: realist humor, still funny, but with a lot of destruction underneath. It explained why the joke works and closed with "that's why it's funny." I misread that as "that's why it's not funny." For a second I thought it had actually reasoned: accepted the mechanism, then turned against it. That turn would have been thinking. Then I reread it, and it was just the expected closing line. Without the break, the analysis is only text shaped like analysis.
