Just came out of a meeting where we, the faculty, were highly pressured to use MagicSchool AI education platform. One of the 'tips' we were given is when getting a lesson plan or activity out of the platform, we should continue to refine our prompts until we get the result we want.
1. If we know what we want, what's so hard about just writing it, on a document, with my own fingers, instead of playing AI pinball until I get something close to what I want?
2. After that, I decompressed by reading and editing my WIP. It was one of those editing sessions where I suddenly realized what I, as an author, was trying to say, what I was writing the book for. It was such a quiet, profound moment of self-reflection and discovery, and it took months for me to get there. I don't see how that could happen with statistically probable sentences determined for me, and I cannot fathom robbing my students of that personal revelation by allowing them to write with AI.
