If it was your *knee* I smashed with a hammer (to make it unusable), pretty much everyone would say that was violence.

A bunch of people acting in concert to smash a store window during a riot seems violent not just because of the act itself, but because of the number of people doing it and the general lack of order (which is scary in itself and also brings the possibility of escalation to mind). (3/8)
