We've seen the revving up of narcissistic "woe is me for having to put up with my child's queerness" nonsense for trans people, and now the same glossy magazine-style sympathy treatment is being rolled out for plain old homophobia too.

Because the opposite story is worth telling: "someone who is supposed to love me treated my earnest attempt to share an important aspect of my life and identity as equivalent to my own death and dealing with the sheer narcissism of that is a whole thing".
