not looking to change your mind, but i regret not studying any theory for my first ~15 years of making music, and i have learned this is not an uncommon experience among self-taught musicians. it didnt make me freer, it held back my expression in ways i could only understand later. i was still influenced by conventions, just less aware of it
just want beginners to know there are pitfalls here
