I set a few keyboard shortcuts on whatever Linux distro I am using, bound to the "Super" key (the Windows or Apple logo key)
- Super-Enter: open terminal emulator
- Super-W: open web browser
- Super-E: open text editor
- Super-F: open file browser (e.g. Nautilus)
My Desktop is clean. I keep unsorted random files usually in ~/Downloads. If I need a file browser, I just type Super-F, I never need the desktop icons.
