Brain vomit. Thinking out loud below. You have been warned.

Been flip-flopping about career options a lot lately and I think gardening has just solidified my opinion on what I want to do long-term.

Got pitched a forgin service, a job by a friend of mine who is deployed around the world, doing IT for embassies. On its surface it sounds interesting. You have to get top secret clearance and you get stationed foreign places. Basically a full ride by the government while you work.

While I would be able to make and save money while I was deployed doing the Foreign Service job, I could do it for five or six years or something, save up money, and then come back to the States eventually. Part of me thinks it would be a really interesting challenge and a drastic lifestyle switch-up. But I would be forgoing something that I think is tied deeply into my core as a person.

I like life, I like cultivating a system and watching it evolve with care. There's something deeply satisfying even if my garden beds are small and limited about being able to grow my own food and care and refine the system and make it better for the limited space that I have currently. Also, my current job dealing with internet infrastructure is satisfying in a similar way. I would probably get some of that satisfaction doing work for embassies, but at the same time, I'd be letting go of gardening, which is honestly more terrifying than the Invasion of privacy that I would have to go through getting top secret clearance.

That and you know the whole fact that I'd be selling my soul to the devil for money supporting a government that I'm really not too pleased with And really haven't ever been........So I guess going forward it's nose to the grindstone until I can get more property and cultivate more life. 😅
