One of my boys has a unique name, but it's more RETVRN and less JAPAN!!
The thing about unique names is that people will always think to that ONE person they know (of) with the same/similar/homograph name, so you have to really be sure when you pick it. And it probably shouldn't be a name from pop culture (anime, vidya) unless you're really really sure it won't make them/you look like an idiot, and no bizarre-o misspellings that also scream "parental cry for attention".
