Karmelo Anthony will not get a new trial. He'll serve his 35 years for the murder of Austin Metcaff.
This is actually probably best for him, because honestly he probably would've gotten more time in the new trial.
You see, there was a "gentleman's agreement" between the defense and prosecutor that didn't allow any previous info to be brought into evidence. Only evidence from the day of the murder was allowed.
Since the trial is over, the information from the gentleman's agreement was unsealed and good god, it was not good.
-Karmelo had previously before the murder, texted that he wanted to stab someone to death and lick the blood off the blade. (He went on to murder Austin with a knife).
-He had physically abused his recent ex girlfriend and she had reported to school the day before the murder that he was stalking her.
-He apparently had an obsession with knives and fighting.
And there were a few more I forgot. But goddamn, it does make your mind boggle that this critical info was kept from the jury during his trial. He was found guilty even without this info, but still.
Anyway...if he had gotten a new trial, with this evidence in there he'd probably get life in prison. Good riddance to this little shitstain.
