Ah, I wonder WHY the bank had initiated foreclosure procedures on the house while it was on MIL's name... 🙄
Can't really help with the grief process, unfortunately. Mom died over a decade ago and it was brutal, even though we were slightly estranged.
Remember the good times, that's the only real suggestion I can give.
It will slowly get better over time, but for the first few months it will suddenly kick you in the gut out of the blue when you least expect it.
May the drama have ended, and the inheritance stuff be done with ASAP, so you all can get some closure.
Also, inb4 MIL starts saying the house is hers, because it had been assigned to her in the divorce. Please, clamp that down FAST, if her finances are so bad that she needs to be bailed out like she has, you know shenanigans will be happening sooner or later.
