I agree. We are programmed for good reasons to be tribal.

And we are pattern recognition machines. (Bad ones though. Hat tip Scott Adams)

We can't handle enough variables to do that in a way that really holds nuance.

So to solve problems, we are driven to polarize our views. There's the black view and the white view. We pick one and we start making arguments.

This works pretty well, but it also happens to be one of the fastest ways to great error.
