I wonder if I could try being a stand-up comedian.
I live in a metropolitan area with comedy clubs. I bet there's one or two that even have an open mic now and then.
But I'm trying to think, have there been very many successful comedians that make you laugh, but then also make you feel like more depressed by the end of it? Is that something people want because that's probably how it would work for me.
#asknostr :
Should I try and see if I would be any good at a stand-up open mic somewhere, you think?
Bitcoinners are a cargo cult.
"I forgive you."
It is possible those three words can give freedom to another human being.
But they are certain to set you free.

The attack surface of all of the technology joined together by the Internet is mind boggling.
I used to work with APIs between enterprise software and just about anything else you can imagine. Most of the tech that I supported was public facing.
If you've ever worked around such things, you know how complicated they are. I used to say almost every day: it blows my mind that all this shit actually works.
Security and architecture designed to stop humans are not going to present the same challenges to artificial intelligence.
I don't mean that artificial intelligence is immediately going to outrun human capabilities in every arena. But it doesn't take every arena.
News has been dripping in one breach at a time. So far, almost every one a surprise.
Attacks on connectivity. Attacks on security. Attacks on software two or three jumps downstream from the key system. Eventually, even convincing and powerful social attacks on people.
The drip drip will become a stream will become a river will become a flood will become a torrent.
And some of it will be entirely fake... made up. Meta social attacks that only need to fool about half the people.
At least it will be fun to watch.
We ain't seen nothing yet.
I've not read much of his work, but I did happen to read this one, and it made a mark on me.
"Cell" by Stephen King
If you know the story, have you realized that we're watching this in real time but in slow motion?
What do you mean?
And by the way, the point of why I'm saying what I'm saying is Aqua is allowing people to peg out their bitcoin that is potentially stuck in the liquid network before it's even fully backed again (assuming it ever is). This is an opportunity for people that have maybe a few hundred thousand Sats to get their Bitcoin back.
And I am potentially using the right language here because this is either a swap facilitated by sideswap or it is a true peg out transaction.
So people that have small amounts in a wallets like Aqua or Bull Bitcoin should move quickly before the music stops.
Do you know you can peg out LBTC on #Aqua?
Sztorc is long overdue to fork off.
Best of luck to him.
Well, I didn't say my guess would be right.
It is not the first word that has been treated this way.
Control over language is a superpower.
Holding your Bitcoin in wallets that use side chains or drive chains includes both technical risk and counterparty risk.
In time, these systems will be much more hardened, security wise. And I believe transactional privacy is knocking on the door here as well.
But, I believe right now is still a very bad time to be holding anything more than trivial amounts in these types of wallets and systems.
Get your Bitcoin off exchanges and get your Bitcoin out of drive/side chains.
I would love to come some day. But I don't know what being a Western foreigner would be like in Canton.
From this I have a guess of where you might live and honestly it's not too far from me. A bit further south I'm thinking.
I agree. We are programmed for good reasons to be tribal.
And we are pattern recognition machines. (Bad ones though. Hat tip Scott Adams)
We can't handle enough variables to do that in a way that really holds nuance.
So to solve problems, we are driven to polarize our views. There's the black view and the white view. We pick one and we start making arguments.
This works pretty well, but it also happens to be one of the fastest ways to great error.
The early #monero folks did not mock bitcoinners. They did not see monero as a replacement for #Bitcoin but as a compliment. Two different projects with different tradeoffs.
The sort of mockery and meming seen today arose during the blocksize wars. And was very similar to the kinds of insults and ideas being pushed by the bcash, (#BCH) camp. For example the fixation on the tagline of the white paper "peer to peer electronic cash" and the frequent taunt that bitcoin has failed at that. A point I see as currently true but shortsighted.
Roger Ver, in fact was (is?) a monero proponent.
Human beings tend to polarize and divide into camps. Cest la vie, I guess.
Bitcoin and monero are both extremely important ideas for the future of ALL of us. They both have tradeoffs.
We will learn to master these tradeoffs or we will die while mocking the "other side".
Arrogance is a hell of a drug.
I deleted it because I don't want to be a dick, but sometimes you just need people to hold their horses a little.
Deleting on nostr is not really a very reliable thing to do though.
I think the issue for me is in the fact that people don't seem to realize that Nostr is a completely wide open relay-based information sharing system yelling into a somewhat immutable set of distributed databases.
It is literally almost impossible to use it in a way in which your information is not being broadcast into the databases of people who want to monetize that information by tracking you. It's like worrying about increasing the flow of water to the Niagara Falls by adding a garden hose to it.
Just a little PSA.
#Aqua Wallet is fully functional again, including fully backed peg outs. If you have some L-BTC in limbo, you can just ship it to aqua wallet and peg it out for BTC.
Peter Todd doesn't lead Bitcoin. And several of his ideas are very much despised by the majority of the community.
Or the financialization of Bitcoin has "tamed it" as Charlie Munger said "they" would do.
Glad you're back.
But I tried a swap to lightning and it failed.
Now my sats are just... ... Gone?

There will never be another "No Agenda". It's tragic it has come to the end.
In the morning.
I have to admit. I think it would be hilarious to overdub a glorious fart as the camera zooms in.
Are "small talks" when you say the same thing over and over?
Updated VPS (thanks PHP and #4). Lets see if the blossom server works.

That looney private key being used by the Indian CA that was essentially the number 4?
The First Segwit address associated with that private key once held a bit of BTC. ;) Certainly nothing...

#Coinkite is allowing users to build and self-sign "unofficial" firmware.
This is fantastic for people who like to live on the edge a little. :)
I wonder if there are any 3rd party firmware repos yet? I will search.

Having wandered around on this earth for a while, I've gotten a little better at recognizing when someone is taking the opportunity to "get ahead of something".
She is definitely doing that here.
Why so many internet suicides?
"I know what they're really doing in that little room is eating candy."
Science is the very worst religion of all.
He is the brother of La Nina.
I can just tell you that those candies not only don't taste very good, but they make my mouth really, really dry.
I agree! It is wise to walk a path that makes compromises and takes small pleasures in small things. I would love to try your roasted pumpkin seeds. That's really the way I like them. And sometimes I like them a little well done, so to speak. 🎃
If someone wants to meet Chinese models I am in several trading telegrams that I have been invited to by them. I could ask.
I haven't done so well with the trading, but these young ladies are hot. Let me tell you.
Also full purples!

I consider myself to be pretty Twitter-free. I'll go glance at it when that's where some information is, you know, like a link in an article, that kind of thing. Or, if that's the only way I can easily ping somebody.
But I wouldn't want to go back because I think the way I left the algorithm all it does is shows me these weird, you're a genius if you can solve this math problem posts.
Nostr is actual digital community or something pure and close to it. Twitter is the sloppiest slop of all slops.
I really love the taste of it, but this is a situation in which it's almost literally the juice not being worth the squeeze.
Man, I am definitely under the weather, achy, just feel ill, but I shouldn't complain because there's a good chance it's a "massage hangover". I got a massage and evidently must have been storing up some pretty poisonous stuff in some of my muscles.
