Occasionally I'm asked why I use *many* hash tags on #Fediverse. Typically every non-“quiet public”/PM post of mine has at least one hashtag.
I do this is b/c of the difficulty of topic discovery on Fediverse. The federated nature means, as we all know, no algorithm is pushing content at users. But, speaking at least for myself, I *want* content about topics that interest me pushed at me, & that's what hashtags can do.
I am curious though if Fedi experts like Christine Lemmer-Webber (npub1urx…v0z4) & Evan Prodromou 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇷🇵🇸 (npub1764…nuj0) agree with this.
