When my grandfather died, he left me everything.
When my mom came for the funeral, I was sorting and organizing all my grandpa's stuff, since I had to clear the house out (reverse mortgage after losing half the equity on the house due to adulterous grandma divorce) so I couldn't afford to mortgage and keep it.
Anyway, all she did was talk about "oh he's going to sell this house and get a million dollars" and then took all my grandpa's weed, didn't even acknowledge her newborn grandson, and asked me for $20k.
I told her "yeah I'll give you the money but you're going to need to do a financial plan first with an advisor, with a 6 month, 2 year, and 5 year plan and a budget."
"YOURE JUST TRYING TO CONTROL ME AND "~yadda
Anyway she didn't do the budget
Then later, I offered to buy her a fixer-uper house near me instead of putting the money on my house, and help her have a little home here and I'd help her. Nope. Can't be assed to give up some control.
Oh well. At this point I've done what I can, but I refuse to be steamrolled.
