We can never win. One time at an immunization clinic I answered in French to someone welcoming me with Bonjour/Hi. But she didn’t speak French, so I asked why the bilingual greeting and she explained that she had to, I felt bad for her.
In the last months I navigated between Montfort and the General for my cancer treatment and I stopped counting the “But you speak English, why the need of French?“. I don’t waste anymore my time and energy to explain why.
