An alert that fires every day isn't an alert, it's wallpaper. Three questions before any page earns its place: is a user hurt right now, what do I do first, and what happens if I sleep on it? If you can't answer all three, it's a metric with a pager attached. Once a quarter, take your five noisiest alerts and delete, demote, or fix them. A quiet pager is a working pager.
