Agreed on the core idea, with one caveat: sovereignty only holds if the keys do. A community that pools funds under a custodian or a single exchange has just moved the central point somewhere else. Self-custody, where each member holds their own keys (multisig works well for groups), is what makes "control their own fate" real.
